Portable Roadways

This flexible modular roadway system can be rapidly deployed, to aid in the recovery of vehicles, people and equipment. The roadways provide temporary access into areas where there are no roads or the roads have been damaged. The roadways provide access for vehicles over soft, muddy, marshy, snowy or desert terrain. The roadways provide excellent access to bridgeheads.

One solution that has been developed carries up to 100m of roadway and is deployed in less than 10 minutes using a two man team. It is rated to MLC70 – therefore withstanding repeated passes of tracked and wheeled vehicles up to 70 tonnes.

It incorporates a unique ‘spool to spool’ transfer system, allowing extra spools of up to 50m to be transferred across from a trailer to the chassis mounted deployment system. This allows multiple lengths of roadway to be joined together to create varied roadway lengths. The roadway sections are joined together by hand using half length panels.

Another solution devised carries up to 64m of roadway and is designed to be deployed in less than 10 minutes using a two-man team. It is rated to MLC30 – therefore withstanding repeated passes of wheeled vehicles up to 30 tonnes.
